John M. Melvin

Specializing in residential and commercial real estate, partner John Melvin brings a wealth of experience in real estate title issues to the closing table.

During his 34 years with the firm, he has closed a wide range of transactions including conventional, FHA and VA loans. Mr. Melvin and the professional staff of the real estate practice group are approved agents for Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and Fidelity National Title Insurance Company of New York.

Mr. Melvin is known throughout the community for his support of the arts as well as his participation in local theatre productions. He has also taken leadership roles in numerous civic organizations. A past president of the Rotary Club of Gainesville, Mr. Melvin has served his church, First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, as a deacon and an elder. Recently named Man of the Year by the Rotary Club of Gainesville, Mr. Melvin is also a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from Gainesville College and Brenau University.

Prior to joining Stewart, Melvin & Frost in 1968, he served as a captain in the Judge Advocate Department of the United States Air Force. A finance graduate from the University of Georgia, Mr. Melvin earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1965.
